Description:

“A Sediment Remediation Project Done the Practical Way,” was prepared to provide an overview of how one project was successful amidst a labyrinth of technical regulations and permitting situations; contractor battles; competing interests of Community Advisory Groups, and the Public; while working with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. As everyone knows in our business, just one of these items alone can stall, derail, or even stop an environmental project from occurring. Everyone had the intent of meeting the ultimate “end game” or “Goal”, which was in everyone’s best interest and the desired result. However, among the parties were differences in priorities and self-interests that at times threatened to derail the project. Do we have the only answer? NO. Do we have one possible path that you may follow which could result in success? YES. In this paper we will outline for you the History or Genesis of the Sediment Remediation Project. We will also overview the Scope of Work and Techniques used to implement and successfully complete the project. Finally, we provide a brief summary of the key items we can attribute to the success of the project.
