This paper presents: the background for pursuing a corporate emission data calculation, storage, and reporting database to replace the legacy air calculations at the individual refinery level; the project scope and approach to implement the system; and the benefits and challenges encountered during project implementation. After the success of the first phase of the project, Valero has begun to develop and implement improvements to the data gathering and reporting features.
