Description:

During the past two decades, the oil and automotive industries have made considerable efforts to understand the relationships among urban air quality, vehicle emissions, engine technology and fuel, and to advise regulators accordingly. As a result of the Auto Oil programs developed in the U.S., European Union and Japan, vehicle emissions have been considerably reduced. All three regions continue to strive for zero vehicle emissions. In addition, automakers have been asked to improve fuel economy both for energy conservation and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions control.
