Description:

Software CEM is a well proven and highly accurate method of providing source emissions monitoring with continuous parameter validation. An Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation peaking plant with seven gas turbines replaced an aging existing hardware CEMS with Software CEM (Rockwell Automation’s PEMS). This replacement demonstrated the effectiveness of Software CEM as a cost reducing solution to a hardware-based system. The average Software CEM costs approximately the same of the rebuild cost of an existing hardware CEMS; yearly operating costs are reduced by approximately 80% of hardware CEMS. Furthermore, real-time sensor validation of Software CEM eliminates costly calibration gas requirements and instrumentation labor that would otherwise be necessary for analyzing and sampling system maintenance. There is no additional maintenance required for Software CEM outside the routine process operation and control sensor upkeep.
