Wild et al. (1) (2) investigated the ability of nitrifying sludges to convert ammonia to nitrate under various temperature and pH conditions. Summarizing the work of earlier investigators, Wild presented the results of research conducted by J.A. Borchardt, University Michigan, Ann Arbor, in the mid 1960’s that reportedly showed that temperature had little effect on nitrification in the 15°C to 35°C temperature range.
