Description:

In October 2011 the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lifted the Administrative Stay on the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting requirements for Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S). As a result, H2S calculations and data were included in the 2012 TRI reports. During the 2013 reporting period, Trihydro assisted several facilities with TRI reporting and gained valuable insight regarding the identification and quantification of petroleum refinery H2S sources. This paper focuses on lessons learned from the new reporting requirements during the 2012 report preparation, including best practices for threshold calculations and release estimates. The goal is to provide American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) members with specific guidance for reporting H2S on future TRI reports.
