Description:

This paper covers our experience with PEMS installation and operation at this facility only. We continue to be “on the learning curve” with the PEMS technology since our PEMS have been in full operation only since March 1996. Any observations and recommendations are made as a result of this experience. Since Sweeny Complex is made up of many highly integrated and interdependent process units, the ethylene units probably experience more variability in operating conditions than other facilities. Thus some of the situations we encountered during the PEMS model development may not be encountered elsewhere.
