Description:

This paper presents two case studies involving the use of two phase extraction (2-PE) to remove non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) from tight soils. The first case study involves removal of a NAPL lighter than water, from a clayey silt soil at an active gasoline station. The second case study involves removal of trichloroethylene and other chlorinated solvents, NAPLs heavier than water, from a silty sand that underlies a former aircraft maintenance facility.
