Description:

Environmental regulations have forced companies in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries to consider the use of secondary containment in many production, storage, and processing facilities. Secondary containment involves the placement of an impermeable barrier between the stored liquid and soil, surface water, and ground water. Common materials used in secondary containment include concrete, asphalt, geomembranes, and coatings, each of which suffers from disadvantages. This paper describes the use of spray polyurea coatings for secondary containment. Their ease of use and performance characteristics eliminate many of the problems associated with other forms of containment.
