Description:

Let’s face it, no one really wants a refinery in their neighborhood. However, we are here and we are not going to disappear. Therefore, let’s be sure all of our neighbors are happy that we are running this refinery. We want the community to be our friends and neighbors and be confident in our ability to run this facility in the safest and most environmentally compatible manner possible. Further, we have to be part of the community. We must not only invest in our plant, but also invest in the community. This statement by refinery management is an excellent summary of how the refining and petrochemical industries are dealing with the public’s increasing need to understand how our industries interact with the community. Out of this increased need to deal with our neighbors, came the need to document the following: · Why should we have have a community relations program? · What benefits are derived from such a program? · What are “best practices” in the community relations arena? · How do we measure success?
