Refiners in Europe and U.S. have been busy completing their clean fuels projects to meet the regulatory deadlines for low sulfur gasoline and diesel in 2005 and 2006. Topsoe has licensed twenty-seven hydroprocessing units for production of ULSD diesel during the last several years. Our licensees have taken different approaches to their ULSD projects based on their refinery’s needs. The most basic decision that a refiner must first make is whether to revamp their existing distillate hydrotreater or build new distillate hydrotreating capacity.
