Description:

LW02 Meeting Paper - Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) of both passenger car and commercial vehicles are asking for higher quality engine oils to help them get improved fuel economy, lower tailpipe emissions, and better lubrication during initial engine starts, while maintaining or extending oil drain intervals. These higher quality lubricants require the use of more high-quality lube basestocks and additives. Refiners have many different process technology options for manufacturing these high quality basestocks. This paper discusses a new process for manufacturing very high quality Group III+ basestocks by isomerizing and dewaxing slack wax in a single step.
