2010 has brought three widely announced changes in automotive engine oils: ILSAC GF-5, API SN, and GM dexos™. There has also been an SAE Work Group studying new lighter than SAE 20 grades for inclusion into the SAE J300 engine oil viscosity standard. All these efforts continue the journey for automotive engine oils into more robust, more fuel efficient and more globally specified products. The presentation will summarize these efforts.
