The API Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) Project is making good progress toward its goal of developing and implementing RBI methodology and software for the oil and chemical industry. Level I and II (quantitative and semi-quantitative) RBI software are targeted for delivery to project sponsors in September, 1997. Considerable progress is also being accomplished on Level III (quantitative) software. The base resource document (BRD), which first issued in May of 1995, has also been updated with numerous improvements and expansions to the RBI methodology.
