Description:

Petroleum-chemical companies are under extreme pressure to improve their profitability. Maintenance costs have been identified as the single greatest opportunity to achieve that goal. To control maintenance costs, many organizations are attempting to implement a variety of integrated reliability and maintenance programs, most notably reliability-centered maintenance @CM). The RCM process has been successfully deployed in the aerospace and nuclear power industries for many years but deployment in process industry companies has been inconsistent at best. This inconsistency results from failure to adequately define the process, its scope, and end user involvement up-front. Organizations must translate RCM engineering analysis outputs to the individual operator and mechanic level if program deployment is to succeed.
