Description:

This paper focuses on the recent work performed at Honeywell Specialty Material’s chemicals processing complex in Geismar, Louisiana using a collection of software tools developed by Honeywell Process Solutions to calculate Process KPI’s, automatically monitor the process performance against those KPI’s and describe the reasons for any unplanned change or exception. Operator input, along with other critical unit performance information—such as the metrics around reportable incidents or reliability statistics, is then input directly to an electronic operators logbook. The logbook data is fed back up the chain and used as input to drive the planning process creating a complete performance feedback loop designed to orient the user, support correct and timely decision making and facilitate action. Closing this loop tightly between the planning and operations functions ensures timely availability of information and data for calculation of higher-level business KPI’s on a near real-time basis.
