Description:

Today’s refining economics suggest that finished product inventory reduction may be a strategic reason to consider significantly upgrading oil movement controls and infrastructure across a company’s refining assets. Upgrades in this area of the refinery could allow significant finished product inventory reductions through the implementation of in-line blending directly to ship and/ or pipeline with myriad benefits such as: minimize inventory working capital and finance costs; reduce tankage routine and regulatory maintenance costs; reduce safety instrumented systems requirements and upkeep costs on tankage; and reduced safety hazards inherent in the large-volume storage of hydrocarbons.
