RMC-00-102 BP AMOCO CHEMICALS: A SUMMARY OF ONE COMPANY'S EFFORTS TO STRENGTHEN MAINTENANCE AND RELIABILITY PRACTICES (1996-1999)

Description:

In 1996, the Amoco Chemicals Manufacturing Council established 20 Manufacturing Metrics to measure performance of the Chemical Sector and the Chemical Plants. They also established five "Networks of Excellence" to drive improvement in these metrics. One of the networks, the "Maintain Asset Network" (MAN), has served as a vehicle to substantially strengthen the culture of maintenance and reliability in Amoco's Chemical businesses over the past four years. The "journey to excellence" is along a path that never ends. However, the gains made to date certainly have reinforced our belief in the power of a strong and relentless focus on reliability.
