As companies strive to make gains in equipment reliability, a natural step is to engage the Operations work force. This can consist of focusing on operator-assisted maintenance (OAM), which has relatively small benefits in terms of overall costs. The larger gains come by engaging Operations in total productive manufacturing (TPM), what Celanese calls “true ODR.” Over the last year, Celanese and Premcor have experienced first-hand some of the challenges associated with implementing ODR. This workshop will share some of the challenges identified during implementation and methods employed to assist in the effective deployment of ODR.
