Organizational learning is an important component in contemporary manufacturing. Companies able to diagnose and share opportunities effectively can leverage learning as a competitive business advantage. Conventional learning is a single-dimensional approach that, at best, could improve the execution of the next similar event, but falls short of permanently influencing and changing corporate knowledge, systems, processes, and behaviors. We will contrast this approach with a practice of ‘Double Loop Learning’ – a methodology that drives preparation efforts and enables the high level of readiness required to successfully execute a highly complex turnaround.
