Description:

Production facilities today face a myriad of problems to reach best-in-class reliability and cost performance. A variety of “tools” (Root Cause Analysis / Defect Elimination, Six Sigma + others) can be called upon to resolve these issues, but selection of the best method is crucial to ensure the desired business results are achieved efficiently and effectively. Many training courses which provide a good description of a particular technique do not spend a lot of time explaining when to (or not to) use the method. In addition, it is important to have an organizational work process to ensure continual improvement in plant reliability and cost. This workshop consists of an overview of a recently implemented work process at the Bayer Baytown complex, leading to a strategy for selection of appropriate problem solving methodology.
