Syncrude’s Expansion Brings Improved Sweet Blend Quality

At a time when many mid continent refiners are experiencing declining availability of conventional crude oils, Syncrude is in the midst of a major expansion, designated UE-1, that will achieve 360,000 barrels per day shipment capacity by early 2005. At the same time, while refiners are also struggling to meet tightening sulphur specifications for gasoline and diesel fuel, SSB quality will be improved with a focus on middle distillate quality - providing lower sulphur and nitrogen levels, and improved cetane number and smoke point.
