TWIC 101: Understanding and Implementing the Transportation Worker Identification Credential Program 2006Tuesday, August 15, 2006 Westin Galleria Hotel 5060 West Alabama [map] Houston, TX 77056-5801 |
The registration period for this meeting has ended.
The "TWIC 101" workshop is designed specifically for NPRA member company owners, operators, and contractors in the petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries.
TSA and the U.S. Coast Guard tell us they are going to move quickly to finalize the recently proposed rule. Facilities will have six months from the time the rule is promulgated in which to amend their Facility Security Plans and submit them to their respective Captains of the Ports. Few companies, however, will want to wait until the final regulation is issued to start planning for TWIC implementation.

Who Should Attend:
Owners and operators subject to the facility security requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) are covered by the TWIC requirements. "All facility personnel responsible for security duties" are required to have knowledge of "all relevant aspects" of the TWIC program.TSA is giving consideration to making TWIC a requirement for all manufacturing facilities, "not just those affected immediately by these specific proposed maritime rules." TWIC 101 will serve as a good introduction to identification credentialing for maritime as well as non-maritime facilities.
